PERINEAL RECONSTRUCTION BY USING BILATERAL GRACILIS MYOCUTANEOUS FLAP

Abstract
The reconstruction of the soft tissue defect in the perineum has long been a very troublesome procedure, because perineum is susceptible to skin maceration, urinary and fecal contamination, fistulization and infection. Moreover incomplete wound healing with inadequate skin coverage cause a functional deficit in the genitalia and bowel habit.
The gracilis myocutaneous flap has made possible single-stage reconstruction of acquired vaginal defe-ts and successful healing of perineal wounds. Flap coverage with reliable vascularity, durability, functional expendability, and proximity to the perineum is clearly superior to the use of skin grafts or local flaps of limited dimensions under similar circumstances.
We report a case of perineal reconstruction with gracilis myocutaneous flap and gill discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the gracilis myocutaneous flap in perineal reconstruction
